Honor our families, honor our fathers.
Fathers day is, of course, an opportunity to honor our dads. To say thanks and we love you. I am of the opinion that, as with every family holiday, it's also a good time to just be grateful for any/all family that one has. Many don't have dads or perhaps their dads did not live up to that role as they should have. For those that dont have a dad I sincerely hope there are others in there life that they can be grateful for.
Being a dad now for the past six years has been my dream fulfilled. Being a dad and husband was my greatest hope growing up as a child. Thank you son for making me a dad, I will continue to be the best dad for you that I can be. I love you.
I have two dads though, unfortunately, one isn't here anymore. My wife's dad passed away a few years ago from cancer. I only had the opportunity to know him for a couple years before he passed. I am so grateful for that time, he was such a good man. He was a carpenter, he built a house for each of his siblings. He was a good father to his 6 children. A good husband. A good mentor and gentlemen to his fellow man. I miss him.
I am equally grateful for my dad, he loves everyone and everyone loves him. He has that rare spark inside him to be able to brighten the day of anyone that is down with his quick wit and good humor. He works hard and lives life to the fullest. I am grateful I have had the opportunity to spend as much time as I have wit him and hope for that to continue for many years to come.
In their own ways, they are both examples to me of how to be a good husband to my wife and father to my child. I love you both dad and dad.
